Open Shift Posting
Open Shift Posting
PlanIt Police will post open shifts automatically when you go below your minimum staffing levels. But whenever you have an extra detail, special assignment, or just need shift coverage, you can post that open shift on the schedule. Once it is posted, everyone in the department will be able to see it and offer to work it.
To post an opening, simply click "Add Opening" on the Calendar Editor screen. Choose the date, times, number of openings, job type, and unit for this shift. You can include a note such as the address of the off-duty assignment or general details about the shift.
Before you add the openings, check the tabs at the top to see your staffing levels. If it is going to be a recurring event, you can copy the opening to multiple days.
The open shift functionality in PlanIt simplifies and streamlines the entire process. It eliminates the need for back and forth communication and any opportunity for miscommunication. The system will even notify those who were both accepted and declined to work the shift. Officers can also always view the current status of the shift on the schedule.
