Open Shift Approvals
Open Shift Approvals
All the Open Shift Requests will go into a pending queue on our police scheduling software. When you’re ready to fill the shift, you can see all the people that are willing to work that open shift. There are a few different ways you can sort out the requests.
You can sort them by date time stamps if you want to go by first-come-first-serve basis. You can sort by seniority or you can sort the Open Shift Requests by Fairness Score. The Fairness Score will rank everyone on the total number of open shift hours they’ve been awarded either year to date or in a 3-6-12 month scrolling window. That way, you can see the person with the lowest score/least number of hours and reward them with the shift.
Once you mark the person or people as approved the open shift management system will automatically drop them onto the schedule and send an approved notification. It will also automatically alert the individuals you declined that they did not get the shift.
