Summer Update

August 2015

We're excited to announce the first phase of our summer update. We will have several more updates coming out over the next few weeks as we finish the features we've been working on this summer.

New Feature: Overlap Warnings

The calendar editor can now be configured to warn whenever a scheduled shift overlaps with another scheduled shift or time off for the same employee. A red warning icon will appear next to any shift that meets this criteria. These warnings will only show up to administrators and power users when using the Calendar Editor. They will not be displayed on the schedule to your employees.

To not cause the calendar editor to suddenly show up with mysterious red warning icons, we have decided to release this feature as optional. By default the warning will be disabled and will need to be enabled by an administrator within the settings screen.

To enable the feature, go to the System menu and select "Settings". On the settings screen select "Schedule Settings" and "Overlap Warning". You may enable the overlap check and you may exclude certain employees, units, jobs, or time off banks from the check. These settings apply to your entire organization.

New Feature: Shift Notes Editor

The shift notes editor is a quick way to update the notes assigned to each shift. Rather than clicking on each shift on the calendar editor to use the note editor you can update notes across multiple shifts on a single page with the shift note editor.

After entering your search terms you'll be shown a list of all shifts which match those criteria. You can then edit the notes directly on the page without needing to press a save button. This tool is great for organizations who use assignments like posts or districts and want to display them on their schedule.

This new feature can be found in the Scheduling menu.

Updating Existing Screens

One of our biggest focuses this summer is updating some of the older screens found to look better on modern web browsers and smart phones. We will continue to update many of our older pages as we move into fall.

We've upgraded the change tracking feature by expanding the available filters, removing date restrictions, and including approved time off change history.
