If you have any part timers, they can input their scheduled availability for your police department here. This feature then allows you to fill open shifts from the backend. Simply check to see who is marked as available and drop them into the open shift. They will get notified and placed onto the schedule so that everyone is able to see that update right away.

If someone has availability the same time each week, they can use the recurring tool. This will allow them to, for example, mark themselves as unavailable every Sunday from 0700-1900 hours.

If they do not have the same availability each week, they can adjust their availability for certain dates. Keeping this information in the system helps to prevent any miscommunication about when each employee is able to work, therefore reducing staffing errors.

Ultimately, for open shifts you can either post them out on the schedule and let people bid on them, or you can use the calendar availability tool and fill them in on the backend.
