It's inevitable, you already know you need to budget in overtime.

And a lot of it (unfortunately).

Electronic overtime forms are basically the same thing as paper forms if you use that now.

They will include information such as:

• Date and times they worked
• The code to distinguish what type of OT
• How many hours total
• If they would like to get paid or compensatory time
• And any other notes they want to add to the supervisor

Managing overtime electronically will reduce time spent on tasks such as:

• Filing the OT
• Tracking the OT
• Adding it to payroll/comp. bank

On top of that, it will allow for you to keep all the overtime records in one place that is easily accessible.

Depending on your policy on overtime, there may be slight changes to the way overtime is handled.

But for the most part, overtime slips include simple information and can be easily handled in scheduling software. 

What Happens Next?

When the officer submits an overtime form, it will alert you, the supervisor.

If they chose to get paid and it's approved, it will go into the payroll export.

If they chose to get comp time and it's approved, those hours will automatically get multiplied by whatever multiplier you have set and will go into their comp. bank.

Can We Get This Information Out?

Yes, there are various reports you can view and export.

Since the hours are classified under different codes you can report off of that.If you want to see how many hours were logged against a particular vendor for the last month for billing purposes, you can run a report off for that, and also for grant work.

So, if you need to report how many hours to get reimbursed for a grant you can generate reports out of here.
