Did You Know About Law Enforcement Appreciation Day?
I'm sure you've heard about National Police Week and National Night Out, but have you heard about Law Enforcement Appreciation Day?
C.O.P.S., Concerns of Police Survivors, started Law Enforcement Appreciation Day on Jan. 9th of 2015. C.O.P.S. was organized in 1984 with 110 members. Today, their membership includes over 37,000 survivors. They provide programs and services to survivors of those officers killed in the line of duty.
2017 will be the third year that the official day has been recognized.
There is a list of things that people will be doing to get involved and show support:
- Facebook pictures being changes to the .jpg image provided at www.facebook.com/nationalcops
- Blue clothing
- Cards and letters
- Project Blue Light - displaying a blue light in support
On the C.O.P.S. web page, you can see the full details of the event. They also have the 2017 Flyer available that lists some of the details. It is impossible for civilians to truly understand the commitment you make to your community every day.
We thank you for your service and will continue to support our law enforcement.
Thank you to those who have been posting pictures and articles about the community coming together and showing support for their law enforcement! We are always happy to see these posts and appreciate when you share them with us. Please continue to share with us the support that you have experienced throughout the past year and on Jan 9th this year for L.E.A.D.
